About the Collection
Corvus is a costume collection that explores the emotions and experiences of the five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance (Kübler-Ross Model). Each of the main characters in Corvus represents a stage of grief. The experiences and emotions of each stage are explored symbolically through the use of transparency, colour, and braid, as well as overall style lines and silhouettes. These costumes are designed for Corvus, a contemporary opera that will be produced in Toronto. Corvus translates to ‘raven’ in Latin, a symbol of both death and wisdom.
