About the Collection
Vav by Sajel Khatri is a Winter 2016 Indian eveningwear collection inspired by Rani Ki Vav, a step-well located in Gujarat, India. Abhla embroidery which are mirrors embroidered onto fabric are used within this collection to represent the reflection one sees of themselves when looking into a well full of water. The water when looked down at shows ones reflection in it, which resembles the person’s exterior identity at that particular moment in time. Vav is targeted to individuals that are outgoing, independent women who like to stand out within a crowd. The collection consists of separates, which includes crop tops, pants, skirts, and shawls. Each outfit has its own unique design and color, which is all tied in with the use of gold fabrics and trim as well as the hand embroidered Abhla fabric.
